Mindful Monday: Seven Intelligences
Mindful Monday is written to the ATA College Prep community referencing daily activities. May it offer inspirational ideas for your community/family.
Through thought and action, we become what we choose to become.
Connecting to the ATACP annual theme: The Power (and Privilege) of Choice, October's Aim focuses on commitment and dedication.
Last week in Leadership, CP students completed preliminary goal sheets, and are now working to consider systems that they are willing to commit to, in order to attain their stated academic, athletic, personal character, family, relationships, hobbies, and long-term goals. Committing to a systematic plan can create habits, and daily dedication to these habits can override difficult obstacles that could stand in the way of reaching challenging goals.
Students in grades 6-9 also completed self-assessments on ways they show their intelligence. Based on Howard Gardner's Seven Intelligences, students are being challenged to become more aware of how they process incoming information - ways that are easy and comfortable as well as ways that need exercising to strengthen. This process of thinking about thinking can increase awareness in their personal learning processes and develop a greater understanding of others' learning processes - which just makes us all better people.
